A few years ago, I was the maid of honor at a friends wedding....I had booked an appointment at the same place to get my legs waxed in the early afternoon, and a pedicure right after. I was really looking forward to having this done. I love getting pampered like that.
However, on the day of the appointment, the place, a VERY fancy salon, calls me up, and says that they had a cancellation that morning, and since i'm a regular at this place, and I have 2 appointments back to back, they wanted to know if I wanted to switch my pedicure to that morning. Not even thinking, I say "Oh my god...of course, i've got so much to do this afternoon, I'd love the extra time to get it done." Appointments set, I hop in my car to get going. When I get there, They bring me my water with lemon, and let me pick out my nail polish color. I'm SO looking forward to a couple of hours of relaxation and pampering, that I sit back in the pedicure chair, kick my shoes off, and am JUST about to pull up my pant legs and stick my feet in the warm water when I realize that my legs are now being waxed AFTER my pedicure.
In a state of SHEER horror, I just about die, when the girl *one i'd never had before* sits in front of me, and tells me to stick my feet in. Im am about to cry, i'm SO embarassed, because for anyone who has ever had their legs waxed, you know how long your hair needs to be, for them to do it.....Which is why I booked my waxing appointment first to begin with.
I look at this girl, and say "Uhh...I just remembered something, can you go see if my original appointment is still available??" She says "Uhh..okay", and of course comes back with the horrendous news "unfortunately, that appointment has been filled. Is it an emergency?? Do you need to cancel?"
I sigh audibly, and say, "No, it's not an emergency, I just havent shaved in over 3 weeks as I am getting my legs waxed immediately after this, and when they called me to change my appointment to right now, I didnt even think." She insisted it couldnt be bad, and insisted that I stop being so silly, and relax. Well..for those of you who have been reading my blog a long time, know how dark my hair is....and After 3 weeks of not shaving, I was utterly horrified, and the MOST humiliated i've ever been.
After 3 years of going to the same salon, I wasnt all that upset about having to find a new place for pedicures.

Well having hairy legs cant be worse than having to remove your shoes and socks in front of strangers and stink the place up, eh? We discussed in a previous post how you seldom take showers, remember?
Well PP if the path to a woman's heart goes through the legs, your potential suitors may be in for a rough hairy ride.
lol
I have done that once when I was sceduled for a massage. I totally forgot to shave, it was winter, it had been a while.
It's not like you were trying to attract the people who had to see your hairiness, you were paying them to perform a service. I sincerely doubt that they care. I went to the doctor before Christmas to have her look at my knee. She insisted that I had to take my pants off for the knee exam. I hadn't removed any kind of hair from anywhere in a very long time and I had to prance around the office while she checked out how my knees moved and squat and bend it in various ways.
If she cared, that was her problem. I'd have felt bad about stinky feet, but not about hairiness.
I'm sure it wasn't that bad.
Who hasn't been down that road, I'd like to know!
Yrautca - Uhh...not really. I dont wax anymore, so I never really have to worry about letting my hair get that long...but thanks for your concern. And any girl who goes for pedicures in the summer know to wear flip flops, or slip ons. There wasnt any stink.
Berly - LOL....Isnt it so embarassing??
Jenny - LOL!!! you're right. I wasnt trying to attract anyone. but I still felt stupid.
Angel - Oh...I assure you. for ME, it was horrifying.
Tai - LOL...i didnt realize that it was all that common, but I guess it is.
Oh my, I would be embarassed too. But, I am not one who feels comfortable being pampered to begin with. I just had my second manicure ever (the first one was for my wedding 5 years ago) and the whole thing made me feel a little awkward. The woman doing my nails kept telling me to relax, but due to the way we were both positioned I was totally staring at her boobs the whole time and even though I know that it was just the result of the way we were positioned I still felt like I should be looking somewhere else and it make me uncomfortable. I am just no good at that sort of thing. I don't think I could ever get my legs waxed because it would mean letting someone see my hairy legs. But, that said, I don't think that the woman doing your pedicure should be any more grossed out than the person who does the waxing.
guerrilla - Ya...I guess. It was still really embarassing though.
S.Subs - You're totally right. I never thought about it that way. I suppse if you're an esthitician, you deal with all sorts of shit....Good point.
Oh my god...I WOULD HAVE DIED!!! I can't stop saying oh my god. I would have been completely mortified!!! Poor PP.
HAHA...Linny....I thought youd laugh.
Isnt that horrifying?
Although I don't really get it since I'm a guy and all, I hope you feel my sympathy rays.
LOL..thanks Trib.
We do we feel mortified? IT'S JUST HAIR and it's normal :) Men have it and they don't seem to find it a problem until it is on us...I hate that.

Natalia, my BF hates hair, on himself and others, I don't care about hair on myself or others (except uni-brow of course). Anyway, when we started dating I was on a no armpit shaving kick, I had more than he did, it bothered him to no end. He has a lot of girlfriends and he knew better than to bitch about it, but it came out eventually that he had armpit hair issues. I said I would only shave mine if he shaved his and the problem was solved.
Natalia - Yes, i've noticed that. Although, i dont really like being hairy. It feels so uncomfortable. Once I get a full time career with a good salary, laser hair removal is going to be the FIRST thing that I do.
Jenny - So thats the reason you shaved. You gave in...for the b/f. Well thank god...you know how upset I was by it...LOL
I did it for him, just that once, I've done it a few other times, for tops with extra short sleeves and things like that, but you should see it now, it's pretty long. Or rather it's pretty and long.
There used to be this goth chick in Toronto who had two perfect black diamonds of armpit hair, I always wanted that, I always wondered if she did it on purpose or if it was her natural state.
EWWW Jenny. You know how I hate body hair. LOL
Princess- You girls worry too much about stuff like that. Who cares what the girl painting your toe nails thinks about your hairy legs. Also, eeeeeew! Even if you're getting waxed, why go three weeks without shaving? Then again, I thought all you foreign chicks never shaved anyway!
LOL...Phil. You're rediculous. You cant shave before you get waxed because the hair has to be long enough to rip out. LOL....
PP, you can eww me all you like, but I'm not trying to attract you, so it really makes no difference. Besides, I sometimes shave, perhaps I might shave while we are in Vegas and then sprinkle all the hairs in your bed.

JENNY...With threats like that, i promise you....you'll have to sleep with one eye open. MWAHAHAHA
(LOL)
