Memories of Childhood

I had the biggest desire to watch the Wizard of Oz yesterday....

I remember when I was little, and they used to show it around Christmas every year...me and my sister used to cuddle up in my moms bed, and watch it on their tv. I would hide under the blankets at the part where the witch's fingers were electrocuted by the shoes...it scared me.

Of course ive seen it a hundred times, but it makes me feel cozy....like curling up beside a huge fire with hot chocolate and popcorn.....Of course since I am in the midst of packing my life up, again...for the 6th time in 2 years, I dont have it here with me, its at my parents house...so I didnt get to watch it.....

Whats your comfort movie?

I used to be afraid of the flying monkeys in that movie.

I would say that my comfort movie is "The Natural" my Dad and I used to watch it fairly often when I was growing up.

I have a few go to films in case of emergency. They are in no particular order: The Back to the Future trilogy, the first and third instalments of Indiana Jones (not the second), Any Marx Brothers film, and Grosse Point Blank. Man On Fire is slowly rising on my list (but only when I'm really angsty and need to see horrible things happen to the bad guys).

Amichai - I LOVE grosse point blank, and I remember seeing the third indiana jones at the theater...I agree with you on that one.

I love the last unicorn cartoon :)

I remember when i was younger my parents would rent one of those video projectors from the library. Like the ones they had in school with the film on a reel. We would set it up on a wall in the living room and my mom would make rice crispy squares.

Miss Ash - You guys should do that now....of course you'd have to take down one of the 800 mirrors in their house, but it would be fun...except with your mom's no feet on the furniture rule, you cant really get comfy....LOL!

Yea Grease...thanks for acknowledging me.

I like Amichai's picks too.

I must be the only person who's never seen that movie...don't even ask, because I have no idea how that happened!

AND I don't have a comfort movie...what's the matter with me?!

Apocolypse Now. Actually, that's just what I'm watching right now. Redux. Actually, lemme go with Anchorman.

An ex of mine loved the Wizard of Oz. I'm sure you've watched it with Darkside of the Moon as well as heard the story of the guy who hung himself in the woods.

ok weird picks...love actually always makes me feel good, like there's a happy ending everywhere
and
night of the living dead, it's just something that i ALWAYS go back to watching. i'm talking the original (extended & digitally restored) version here, not the crappy 90's remake. although it's not got the happy ending, it just makes me laugh and i enjoy it so much

PX - I totally agree with love actually....the music in that movie even makes me feel good....

I think it's cute that px picked a british movie...awh.

Hummmm . . . there are so many good movies to choose from.
But my comfort movie is An Affair to Remember. I have the best memories of my mom and I watching it together and bawling our eyes out. Then having coke floats under a huge blanket on the back porch when the temperature is almost freezing.

Rawbean - LOL!!! Ya, I suppose so. But Love Actually is a REALLY good movie. Its one of two girlie movies that I absolutely LOVE...the other is Amelie.

Berly - Aww....that sounds cute....but why were you sitting outside watching it?

I know this is really gay, but I love The Sound of Music, I used to watch it every time I was off sick from school when I was a kid. At one point, I could recite the whole movie start to finish.

Princess Pessimism said...

Jennifer - Ive not seen it, I dont usually like movies with singing as a general rule....wizard of oz, and the muppets are my exceptions

Mine was always the old "Christmas Carol" with Alistair Sims.

The sight of him prancing around singing never failed to bring tears of joy to my eyes!

I'm the same way with all of those classic movies. I especially love all the "Charlie Brown" holiday specials. Brings back so many memories.

And Kay Kay...I watched it plenty growing up thank you very much.

Princess Pessimism said...

Tai - REALLY??? Christmas Carol? Ive not seen the original one, only the muppets one. LOL!!!

Linny - OHHH, I like the Great pumpkin, and the garfield halloween special with the pirate...LOL!!!

Princess Pessimism said...

Slop - REALLY? I dont like that movie all that much. Its okay, but its not my favorite

Ive seen where its supposed to be, but I dont know, who knows if its true
