Blogger Confessional© The Truth.

I went to volunteer today in my first classroom with Miss Ash's sister.

Well, thats not technically true. I worked from September to June (2004-2005) in the classrooms at the mental institution in MA.

So...let me rephrase.

Today, I went to volunteer in my first classroom that didnt have kids with conduct disorder, mental illness, or crisis situations every 5 seconds. It was sorta fun.

I wasnt sure that I wanted to be a teacher up until this point, but I assure you, its a lot more fun than I imagined it was going to be, and for that, I am thankful....because I cant imagine working in a job I hate. SO...it was a nice surprise.

It's nice sometimes to just deal with normal people.

Ask not how you will deal with normal people, ask how normal people will deal with you.

Y - Lesson for the day.

Tact: Yes Yratuca, thats a good observation on your part.

Not having Tact: Look whos talking!! Its a wonder people can stand you...I dont even READ TBL anymore becuase I am sick to death of your bragging about yourself. If you are like that in real life, i'd be surprised if you had ONE person who can tolerate your attitude. You think you are SO much better than everyone else.

Teaching can be glorious. I don't think I would enjoy the kiddies as much as I enjoy teaching at Uni...but I might.

Ash - Your sister is a fantastic teacher. I said that to her when I started in her class. It was wierd to see her in that element, but shes fantastic.

Natalia - Ya...i thought I'd prefer older children too, but I am finding that I am enjoying primary.

Y - Pfft...whatev.

Steve - Ya...its a lot tougher than I thought.

What age group were you working with?

Linny - Yesterday, it was 3-6 year olds in jk, and sk. Today it was a 2/3 split class....wednesday and thursday its just going to be all grade 3s. But we've been so busy.

Yesterday was the staff student volleyball game. Today a local zoo came and brought a lot of animals to the school, and we had our rap up assembly of bullying awareness week. Its been a busy couple of days.

That was a short post. I know a lot of people who have started teaching and then quit, including my mom. So I hope you have a passion for it.
