Movie Etiquette

I have to say, that me and LD spent a lot of time together this weekend. Friday we were out, being harassed, and of course, quizzed on chemistry (Accompanying eye roll), but on Saturday, we went to see The Last Kiss, the new Zach Braff movie.

I was a huge fan of Garden State, and although I dont think that he is remotely attractive, I have to give credit where credit is due....This movie was fantastic. The people who read this blog are, for the most part, in the same age demographic, and i think, most of you would find this movie wonderfully entertaining. However, in this, most recent, movie viewing experience, there were a group of 4, maybe 16 year olds, that were there to make the night less enjoyable, but memorable for sure.

As a general rule, i've decided that I hate (almost) everyone under the age of 20. They're annoying, and just plain fucking stupid. I know, I was once -20 years old, but I dont EVER remember being as stupid, or annoying as they are today. Which might be a definite sign of getting older, complaining about kids these days. But I digress.

These 4 kids, 3 girls, and one boy with the "Emo" haircut, that makes him look like a girl, were sitting 2 seats over from me....Talking, the entire movie on their cell phones, and to each other. Loudly.

And as I sat there, and eat my Skor bites (something I shouldnt have had, but had taken benadryl..so felt safe), I warned LD, that I was more than ready to throw one at them...Well, throw is too polite of a word...more like catapult. But refrained from doing so....

Until I had one in my hand, and before I even realized what I was doing, I threw this little Skor bite, as quickly, and forcefully as I could at this group of kids. I didnt even realize that I had thrown it...it was just so automatic, and such an immediate impulse move, that even I was shocked. One of them said "Someone just threw that at me"...which is when we started to laugh, of course quietly between us...but it was just so automatic, I honestly didnt even realize that I had done it until it was way too late.

They continue to talk, and in the sweetest voice I can manage, I say "Can you seriously shut up?? THAAAAANKS."

I have never been afraid to stand up for myself, or tell people off, for any reason, but I, personally cant believe I actually threw candy at them. Miss Ash was horrified....she says throwing Skor bites is bad, because they're too good to waste. They're one of her favorites...incase you were wondering.

Yes i truly cannot believe that you wasted a tasty Skor bite on some childish teens. I can't even buy them anymore as i'd eat the whole bag, so now i just don't buy them at all. My willpower is weak, i'm working on it.

As for the movie, i watched the trailer as i had no idea what it was and it does look really good. I'll have to go and see this one for sure.

Actually, you know what happened to the rest of those Skor Bites? I only ate about 20 of them, and put them bag into my coat pocket. I left my coat in the car overnight, and it was relatively cool, so I figured they'd be okay. BUT by the time I was up on sunday, and actually went out to get them, it was about noon, they had all melted, and I threw them away....I thought of you.

Yea that movie was really good.

I hate kids like that. I was at a movie where two prepubescent fuckheads were acting like monkeys the whole time. It totally takes away from the experience. I would have gotten those kids kicked out.

In the US this would be categorized as an assault on a country’s citizenry in public at a public venue. You could have served time for this heinous crime.

As for the movie, the trailer looks too syrupy. Garden State was just so-so. Portman was cute and everything but overall the movie was just too sweet and syrupy. I believe that this new movie is also about some immature late 20s people thinking about love and relationships like teenagers. I just puked in my mouth.

Having said that, of course i will watch this movie, likely on DVD. Not a movie for a single guy to watch by himself, eh?

Rawbean - I like dealing with those kids myself....no point in telling on them, its more funny to throw candy.

Yrautca - "assault on a country’s citizenry in public at a public venue." ??? Are you kidding me? This is Canada, we dont sue people here for stupid shit. Its candy. And i'd be more than happy to throw it again. And yes, thats exactly what this movie is about. Good call.

Okay, seriously, I gre up just a short drive from the U.S./Canada border -- why have I not heard of ANY of these foods that you eat over there? Crazy!

As for the movie, I was totally for it because I like everything that Zach Braff has done so far but then I heard this interview about the movie and it said that he has sex with that one chick because he is too big of a pansy to grow up and deal with the realities of his pregnant fiance. Ah, yes, cheating on the girlfriend you knocked up through your own carelessness is soooooo mature. Well, I just find it all too childish for a supposed 30-year-old. But, I did want to see the movie... Now I don't know.

Do not begrudge the young the idiocy and innocence of youth. I do appreciate your immature response to their annoying behavior. It's too bad you weren't eating something big and heavy, like a side of ribs the size that Fred Flintsone used to get at the drive in restaurant.

Did any of them yell "5 second rule!" and quickly eat the Skor bite?

Sexy - I grew up a short drive from the border, lived in the states, and now go to school in the states, and there are still things that you guys have that ive never heard of. LOL!

As for the movie, It was really good. Despite what you think of it, I think its a good description of what happens in relationships. And Zach Braff's character in the movie, is totally what I imagine most guys go through at one point in their life...i loved it.

Phil - I was close to throwing my bottle of water, but didnt want to sacrifice that. And no, no one ate the nite, although, ir they had seen where it went, maybe one of them would have...

I have heard nothing but good things about the movie. I will have to see it soon.

Skor bites... that is hillarious that you threw it at them. They deserved, would have been better to throw a penny or something though, it would hurt more and would not waste the precious Skor bites.

Scott - If you're not kidding, and were serious about throwing money, instead of candy...You and Ashley are MADE for eachother. LOL

I remember when you told some kids to "shut the fuck up " during a movie. I think it was Elf. Its good to know that some things will never change.

We have reverted to the old style of movie watching. Do you know that when movies first were shown, people would sit around, talk, eat, cheer, etc. It was supposed to be a community thing. But now, there is talking but it's rude talking and a lot of into into cell phones. And the generaional thing is soooo true. Argh.

Trib - It's totally worth it.

Linny - I've been fucking around with it all day, instead of doing homework.

Heather - OH YA..i was trying to remember what movie that was. LOL...

Nat - Oh it's totally a generational thing....i was so mad.

I throw things at people for no reason at all, peanut M & M's are the best. Use a plastic spoon some times to really fire it.

Ben - That is a WONDERFUL idea!!
