I'm REALLY trying...I Swear!

I dont know how to use my exercise ball. I can do anything that has to do with exercise, situps, pushups whatever.....but as soon as I try to use my exercise ball....Well....today....I tried to do some sort of situps on the exercise ball, and since I had company, they were trying to talk me through this, and explain to me how to "center my core" Whatever that means.

So I do one sit up, and i'm feeling motivated....situps are no problem for me, when i'm on the ground. I did ONE situp on this ball....i'm so excited that I did one, that I was talking to my company and he was reminding me to focus....the phone rang, it distracted me... I lost my balance and I rolled off onto the floor in a fit of giggles....

How do I use this thing?? Seriously.

When are you coming home again? I can show you lots of exercises to use with the ball. 1. Lay down flat on your back, put the ball between your feet which are straight out infront of you and your arms are above your head. Lift your feet and lift your arms at the same time, grab the ball with your hands and lower both your feet and your hands but do not let them touch the ground(get close though). Now do the same thing, but transfer the ball back to your feet. Get it LOL?

I left that smaller ball at your place, and the one that I have is HUGE. But I understand this exercise. Thanks lady...i'd love you to show me a bunch.

Oh wow. Check out that bod. PP you are hotttttt.

The way to use the ball is to sit on it with your feet firmly on the ground. Now move your upper body backwards until your spine is straight, then move to start position.

I have a DVD that came with my ball.

But PP you got a great figure.

First of all, those balls are totally intimidating. I eye them at the gym but I never use them because I know I will look like an ass trying to figure them out. It's definitely something to do in the comfort of your own home.

Do you know yrautca in real life? If not, spooky. hehe

Pilates, good times! Usually when you're working on your "core" you want to concentrate on your transversus abdominis. Try to contract the horizontal sheet of muscle that's below your belly button and above your pubic symphasis (yeah, I know that's not the whole story, but it's close enough). It's much more subtle than rectus. Just try to keep it flexed while you do the silly ball exercises.

fit/swiss/exercise balls, whatever you want to call them, are evil and are only good for one thing...throwing at kids
i say this because they are big enough to knock most kids down, yet not hard eonugh for said kid to burst into tears
i used to throw them at the kids in the gym where i used to work all the time

Jmai has one of those. I was sitting on it last time I was over there. I was surprised at how strong that thing is. I thought for sure it would buckle under my weight...but nope... it was happy to just be there.

I think there are websites with exercises :)

Oh, you should totally get an instructional video. Hubby has this whole "Core" workout series that shows you all sorts of things using the exercise ball. I love using the ball for workouts. But, I am also very clumsy so I do lose my balance sometimes too.

PP, why are you trying to get into exercises that are so balance focused, between the standing pilates and the exercise ball, you are headed for an injury. If you want to seal your fate just go out and buy a tai bo video.

Yrautca - What's Start position???
That's not me loser. I cant even sit on it without falling off.

Rawbean - I do NOT know Yrautca in real life...he's just creepy. LOL...And I totally agree...they are something to use in the comfort of your own home, like I want to go to the gym, and fall off of it infront of a bunch of strangers. I'll wait until it looks like I know what i'm doing.

Trib - It would help if you spoke english....not medicine. So the core is the muscle above the pelvis below the bellybutton??

PX - There arent any kids in my apartment, and I'd like to keep it that way....However, that's something to keep in mind next time i head out...LOL

Natalia - You're probably right. There probably are websites, but I need to see the people in action. I dont learn by looking at still pictures.

S.Subs - I'm intriuged by the ball, I just havent figured out how to stay on it yet.

Jenny - Oh, I HAVE Tai Bo videos...i LOVE tai bo...its such a good workout.

Exercise balls scare me.
I'm sure I would lose my balance and end up breaking something.

Jenny - No....Tai Bo was GOOD for my ankle. It helped a lot....

Berly - Well..I didnt break anything...not this time anyway. LOL
